PERSONALITY:
CALLOUS - - -> Gaara normally doesn't get involved in fights, but won't hesitate to bite back if he feels threatened. No one in class ever approaches him due to his cold, calculating appearance but when they do, it isn't a pleasant encounter. Without much thought, he'll always respond in a dark tone, making it seem as if he's out for blood. It only took a few encounters from a select few students to realize that he's not the friendliest fellow in school. Due to his rude, thoughtless remarks, his fellow students kept a safe distance away from him, thinking he was the type of kid that would suddenly come to school one day with an AK-47 in his hands. He's only been bullied once in his high school life, but one bullying experience is enough to turn someone sour. Luckily Naruto was there to stop him from beating the kids to a pulp, or things could've ended much, much worse. But since then, no one has stood up to Gaara looking to mess around with him, and for good reason.
SECRETIVE - - -> Since he doesn't have many friends, Gaara has always remained locked up in his own little world. He displays a zero amount of expression the majority of the time and turns away if spoken to. Naruto, being his only "close" friend, is the only person he ever slightly opens up to. It's going to take a little time for him to fully reveal his innermost feelings to Naruto, but to the general public or any other individual, that's a no-go. His emotions remain bottled up inside and, because he refuses to share them with anyone, will have his moments. This suppressed emotion weighs heavily on him and when that happens, he'll lock himself in his room and vent it out by playing video games or singing and playing his bass. If these little break downs happen at school, he's a lot more irritable than usual (and deeply pissed).
ANTI-SOCIAL - - -> He hates, absolutely hates, human interactions. Especially interacting with strangers, which is why he's constantly skipping class. Since Naruto could sync well with his emotions, he grew to respect and admire him. As for everyone else, he'd rather keep his distance. Because of this, he is at the bottom of the popularity ladder (but he really couldn't care less). But one thing he can't possibly stand is social gatherings, so partying with Gaara is simply out of the question. In actuality, going anywhere that is bustling with people is a pain with Gaara. Being as though he sits with Naruto during lunch (sometimes). the table is always full. In situations such as these, he avoids all eye contact and keeps silent during the entire lunch break, silently eating his lunch without a single word said. Naruto, along with Gaara's siblings, want to break him from his shell, but that would require more than a mass amount of work. With that said, Gaara acts the same way in class. When put in teams to complete a project, Gaara will quietly work on his section of the assignment without so much as a single word spoken to his teammates. And if anyone attempted to speak to him, he often responded with a cruel remark or a one liner.
TROUBLESOME - - -> Despite the fact that he's a straight A - B student, he has his fair share of causing trouble (in his own way). He's what the teachers call "a passive aggressive rule breaker". If he's lost interest in a class, he'll just waltz on out, disregarding the teachers remarks. Although he's gotten detention for doing this the first time around, the teachers eventually let it slide (seeing as though he somehow manages to complete the course with an A grade). He's also notorious for skipping. If he doesn't feel like dealing with the students and teachers in a class, he won't think twice about skipping. However, he doesn't leave school grounds. Instead, he hangs around on the roof top staring endlessly out into the distance. His teachers also let his skipping habit slide, but the principle - on the other hand - doesn't approve of him missing out on his academics. If caught by the principle, Gaara will be escorted back to class but will walk right back out without a passing thought. The only time Gaara will actually ditch school grounds is during school held events. Being in a gymnasium full of people freaks him out.
SERIOUS - - -> Gaara takes whatever the task into deep consideration, even if that means completing his school assignments. With this in mind, you can't necessarily joke around with Gaara; he doesn't have a good sense of humor. He'll either take offense to your tease or flash you an unamused stare. His siblings tend to joke around with him occasionally from time to time, but that eventually leads to a shout, a push, and the slamming of a door. After being around that kind of behavior for such a long time (through his siblings and Naruto), you'd think he'd be adjusted to it by now.
RESPONSIBLE - - -> Although he may not look it (seeing as though he has a bad habit of skipping class), Gaara is a responsible teen. He does his chores when told, finishes his assignments right on the dot, and completes any task he receives. Pretty good for someone who smokes toke periodically. He avoids committing any unreasonable acts that could get him suspended, or possibly expelled (even though he almost got suspended for walking out of class and ignoring the teacher when he called back to him), knowing full well that his father would kick him out of the house if that ever happened. He makes excellent grades, despite the fact that he rarely ever shows up for class. He's generally a good kid, and his aloof attitude may be the reason why he's kept his priorities straight.
GLOOMY - - -> Gaara's glum expression isn't just for show. On the norm, he always seems like he's got a rain cloud hovering over his head, always raining down on him. His expression may seem to brighten a bit when he's among Naruto or his siblings, but other than that, all there is... is gloom. Although people suspect that he's naturally a gloomy guy, it's only because he hates being forced to go to school. If it were entirely up to him, he'd stay home sheltered in his room doing whatever he wanted to do for the rest of his life. The only reason he shows is because of his father. His father has threatened him a numerous amount of times that if he doesn't get an education, he won't be living under the same roof anymore. With that said, Gaara has no choice but to go. If you hated people and being surrounded by them as much as Gaara does, you'd be gloomy too.
PERSEVERING - - -> Relenting? Not Gaara. He endures through whatever obstacle that comes into contact with him. The challenges that he faces, he faces them eye-to-eye. That's why he flies through assignments so quickly, he refuses to throw in the towel no matter what. He'll spend hours on tests and quizzes, solving every problem without a thought of surrendering. His teachers can see this through his work and have high expectations of Gaara in his academics. They know he has potential, despite the fact that he barely speaks a word and has a habit of disappearing on the spot, and that's why they haven't given up hope for him as a student. His perseverance also applies to life outside of school. His siblings mean a lot to him (though he rarely ever shows it) and if they were in a spec of trouble, Gaara wouldn't hesitate to leap in to defend them. Chores, video games, practicing his bass playing, he'll strive to the finish no matter the cost. He doesn't want to be a loser at anything, especially in the eyes of his father.
