It was, what nine or so in the morning and Riza's stomach was already starting to complain. The girl was growing, she needed food fast. She patted her stomach in a pathetic attempt to stop its' complaining as she pulled out her bag of snacks she carried with her at all times. It was her form of an emergency kit. Except today it was filled with her grandmother's horrible attempts at making a healthy lunch for her granddaughter. For the past few weeks or so she'd made it a point of berating Riza with complaints about her horrible diet. Mostly she knew where to it hurt most and Riza found herself in her room crying over her school papers. "You'll get fat if you keep this up...", "Nobody will like you if...", and "When I was young..." were frequent sentence starters.
Riza had been pushed a little too far and was forcing the old woman to make her "snacks" she could see just how little she knew about the subject. Now poking a tentative figure into the bag she was starting to think that it'd been a rather stupid idea on her part.
She pulled out a plastic bag that would've normally contained chips which was now filled with rice cakes, which she despised. Inside her usual pudding container was a pile of fresh fruits. Lastly, in Riza's candy container she was greeted by a chunky nut-filled muffin.
"Oh god." she whispered watching as she dropped the muffin on the ground. How was she supposed to live off of this crap? It was like, rabbit food. Except that she was a pig eating food for a rabbit that didn't like eating.
This was bad. If this happened more than once she'd have to start stealing food. That was a bad thing, in Riza's book at least. She was a girl destined to be the most popular at school who was left eating healthy slop.
Trembling she raised a blueberry to her lips.
