PERSONALITY: Ryou has a very childish personality. He finds fun in the most mundane things and will often be seen doing very odd and foolish things for the sake of fun. Rarely in public will you see a frown on Ryou's face, and he always seems to use the most personal of Japanese honorifics. No matter who you are, he will call you -kun if you're a male and -chan if you're female, even slapping the honorific onto your first name. This can cause many teachers and people to feel disrespected, but Ryou means no harm by it. Whimsical would be one of the best words to describe Ryou. He also seems to be the type of person who has an endless amount of questions. Curiosity killed the cat, but Ryou is very apparent that he is a human. While asking questions a ton in school is fine, Ryou takes it outside of school which has been known to upset others. While Ryou isn't someone who will endlessly talk someone's head off, he could learn when to close his lips every once in a while. Ryou also appears to be very opinionated, tossing out his opinions casually. Ryou lives by the philosophy of; “You only live once so make the most of it.” This is why Ryou has no qualms in underage drinking or smoking weed, however he won't go any further than this. Just because he wants to experience as much life as he can, he won't go and do anything to severely shorten it.
Ryou also has a very strong and firm position on pacifism. Ryou has been known to take this to the extreme and plug his ears plus close his eyes to avoid having to hear about war in history class. Ryou understands that war is absolutely needed for a country to be free, but that doesn't mean he has to like it. Ryou will also try his hardest to break up any fighting that he comes across. Oddly enough, Ryou doesn't seem to mind violence in sports and will even encourage it so long as nobody dies. Whenever two people are physically in combat, Ryou will step in the way and take damage as long as it means he can stop the combat. Ryou was trained in defensive maneuvers by his father, so he knows enough ways to take someone down without harming them or at the very least, harming them minimally. Ryou is a strong believer of the judicial system as well. One of the biggest things Ryou has been known to do is completely ignore the future and the past. Ryou has no idea what he is going to be when he gets older, nor does he know what career plan he will go after. Ryou prefers to live in the 'now' and at a very slow pace so that he can enjoy and embrace every aspect of human life as possible.
The final pieces of Ryou's personality are hidden very deep down. The secret and true reason that Ryou stays in the present is because he is afraid of change. Ryou feels that he may lose himself if he changes too much, and would hate to lose any friends he may have gained through changing. This also opens up another fear that Ryou has; loneliness. In his past, Ryou had attempted suicide twice and was saved by his parents both times. Deep deep down, Ryou can regress to the emotionally disturbed person he used to be if something hits him hard enough. The reason Ryou prefers to live in 'his own world' is so that he will never be alone. Even if people are putting him down or speaking behind his back, Ryou knows they at least acknowledge him and that is enough. Ryou also seems to not be able to talk to women very well as a guy, so he tries to treat them like any other human being. You could even say that Ryou has a fear of intimacy, because he doesn't understand it and wouldn't know how to treat someone. Ryou also has one final fear that overrides all others; death. He has been told numerous times in the past to embrace it and accept it, but Ryou just doesn't have that capacity. He fears his eventual death, which is why he tries his hardest to run away from it. Overall, Ryou is an adorkable guy with a slightly philosophical side at times and average grades.
